Brett pursues, txts and fails

Brett Favre had it all. And in one fell swoop he may have thrown it all away.

Allegations put him somewhere on the Tiger scale of scandal, though I really don't know where...

His reputation, was seen to be all but untouchable.

Even after he left his beloved Green Bay Packers - where he was adored like God on the Kop - and joined arch rivals Everton (I mean the Minnesota Vikings), he remained loved.

Ok so he whines a lot and can't make up his mind as to whether he's going to retire or not (turns 41 tomorrow). But we still love him. (especially now that he's a grand-dad).

And yes some have accused him of coming out of retirement for the third successive year as nothing short of money grabbing. But we fans say, "He's just a rascal, look at that dude play".

BECAUSE!!

Brett Favre is statistically the greatest quaterback of all time.

AND!!

Brett Favre hasn't missed a game in the NFL since his first start in 1992.

AND AND! AND

Brett Favre is a shoe in for the Hall of Fame. He's a living legend.

But that untouchable rep? Really?

See, there was the possibility that Favre wouldn't be the centre of attention for tonight's game between the Vikings and the Jets (in spite of the quarterback returning to play against his former team which was the first to bring him out of his annual summerbreak retirement).

He might have been outshone in media rings by the return of Hall of Fame bound wide receiver superstar Randy Moss to the Vikings from the Patriots.

Or that Favre would not get the column inches he deserved because of the return of Superbowl MVP Santonio Holmes to football (after a suspension from the league for apparently smashing a glass across the face of a woman in a nightclub, criticising the nightclub, then discovering that the woman was pressing charges and tweeting the woman to "kill urself" while later tweeting it was time to "wake n bake," a reference to marijuana. All allegations mind you.)

Favre's torturous, drawn out, and often incoherant resignation speeches have held the media spot light of the NFL for the last three years. Now he's got another way to fill the gutter press.

But man alive what a story to break...
